Barclays Bank of Botswana (BBB) has announced a partnership with the University of Botswana’s Finance Society, to educate the university students on issues of financial management and awareness.
Commenting on Barclays’ involvement on the project the Head of Marketing and Communications at Barclays Bank, Rachel Mushaike, highlighted the need for financial literacy amongst the youth in Botswana.
She further challenged that financial services providers such as Barclays were best placed to impart these skills, as they had the best resources and expertise to do so.
“Financial literacy initiatives such as this are an integral part of our community development strategy at Barclays.
Through the Barclays value of stewardship we aim to leave our communities better than we found them.
We believe this applies even more to the youth like those we will be working with for this project, who need the skills as a foundation to their life-long financial acumen,” she attested.
Barclays Bank of Botswana will host workshops on Bankingand on Insurance on the 7th and 14th of September respectively, with an expected audience of over 200 students.
The workshops will be open to students from various faculties across the university.
