Standard Chartered PLC on Monday announced an increase in both underlying income and profits for the first half of 2013 with 17 markets achieving double digit income growth and 25 markets delivering income over US$ 50 million.
Total group income was up 4 per cent to US$9.75 billion, excluding own credit adjustment, driven by growth in Consumer Banking revenue and a step-up in Q2 income in Wholesale Banking.
The bank announced entry into the second half with good momentum, high volume growth and excellent client activity levels.
They relish a robust balance sheet, strong capital and ample liquidity to serve clients as they achieve their growth aspirations.
CONSTRUCTION PITSO HELD
The Ministry of Infrastructure, Science and Technology in collaboration held a Construction Pitso on the 6th of August 2013.
The Pitso was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands and Housing, Local Government and Rural development, Transport and Communication and the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources.
It was held under the theme “Constructing the Economy; Consolidating Strategic partnerships” at Fairgrounds.
The purpose of the Pitso was to reflect on the resolutions of 2011 Construction Pitso while coming up with new initiatives besieging this country.
BOTSWANA CONTRIBUTES P400 000 TO KAZA
The Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism Tshekedi Khama has revealed that Botswana has contributed close to P400 000 to the Kavango Zambezi Tran frontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) in office rentals.
Speaking in parliament this week, Khama said the distribution of resource has been done fairly in Botswana.
Other countries such as Namibia and Zambia contributed over P400 000 and close to P200 000 respectively while Angola and Zimbabwe have not contributed.
This came after MP Makosha of Nata/Gweta asked the minister to explain how much each member country contributed to the KAZA TFCA.
