HABITUAL THREAT TO KILL SUSPECT DETAINED
An elderly man of Gerald Estates who often threatens to kill his wife and commit suicide has been jailed.
Balemetse Moalosi, 56, lost his freedom after he threatened to kill his wife again while he was on bail awaiting trial for a previous threat to kill charge.
The court heard that on or about the 7th of July 2013 near Gerald Estates, Moalosi threatened to kill his wife, Ednah Moalosi following a heated argument.
Court papers further stated that Moalosi threatened to kill his wife and his only daughter and then commit suicide because he was tired of court appearances.
The prosecutor, Tebogo Mabodisa, asked court to remand Moalosi in prison custody because he was likely to temper with investigations.
She brought the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Monkemedi Maphane who told court that he feared Moalosi could actually carry out his threat and kill his wife.
“It is our fear that the accused person will fulfill his intentions of killing his wife, only daughter and then commit suicide,” Maphane said in court.
Pleading with the court not to send him to jail, Moalosi said he was responsible for taking care of his aging mother.
Francistown Senior Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalu however ignored his plea and decided to lock him up both for his family and his own safety. The case continues.
