The five Non-Governmental Organisation namely SOS Serowe, House of Hope, Kopano Rehabilitation, Itsoseng Banana and VDC Palapye each received a cheque of P20 000.00 from beMobile officials at the Majestic Five Hotel in Palapye.
The money totalling P100 000.00 was part of the proceeds from a music concert held last Easter at the Majestic Hotel to celebrate beMobile’s 5th Birthday.
The festival was headlined by South African Jazz icon Jonas Gwangwa and featured local stars such as Ndingo Johwa and Shanti Lo.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, BTC Chief Operations Officer Anthony Masunga said in aiding the five organisations the company is simply doing its duty of giving back to the society they do business in.
On another note Masunga who was in a bubbly mood as he cracked jokes during his speech called on Batswana to support BTC by for example subscribing to beMobile so as to enable the company to give more back to the community in the future.
“beMobile is your company and strives to put money back into the nation,” he said.
He promised that the gesture was not a one off thing and his company had plans to have another music festival and raise money for needy causes.
For their part, the recipients promised to use the money to better whatever area they had in their organisations.
They also promised to account for the cash.
