SERVICE WITH A SMILE
Our celebration shout out for this week goes out to Builders Warehouse sales consultant, Thuto Muzila.
The 29-year old lass from Makaleng village near Francistown says she is a hard worker who takes her job seriously even when she assists window shoppers.
But it appears, as she take us through the various departments of Builders Warehouse at the new airport Junction mall, that it is also her natural smile that makes her customers feel welcome.
She giggles at the suggestion but welcomes the compliment with modesty.
“Well I wasn’t aware of that, but it’s very important to smile. It costs you nothing yet it goes a long way in ensuring that your customers feel at ease around you,” she says as she settles on her swivel chair for the interview.
Muzila joined Builders Warehouse when the store was opened in August 2011.
She has since been assigned to take charge of the carpets department which she does with a male colleague.
She is mostly alone at her workstation as the colleague mostly attends to the cutting and fitting needs at a client’s after the sale.
“This means I have to frequently attend to divide my attention to the many customers who visit. It’s hectic sometimes but I love it because I get to meet different people and as I help them out, my product knowledge develops too and I learn everyday.”
Muzila says her carpet section requires a lot of attention to detail as she deals with orders.
“I have to understand precisely what the customer needs because if an order comes and it’s not what they had in mind they may not pay for it and I’ll be held accountable. I also have to ensure that the order is delivered on time and I then make follow ups after sale to ensure that the customer is happy with the quality of the product,” she adds.
Muzila also attributes her secret to good customer service to her supervisors and colleagues in different departments.
“We work as a team and we help one another whenever it’s necessary,” she says.
Mona Mehregami-Tekie, the customer who nominated Muzila says she was inspired by the young lady’s passion and commitment to her job and felt that she deserved the customer service award.
