PASTOR’S ANGRY PUBLIC SPAT ATTRACTS MINISTER SERETSE ‘ SHARP CRITICISM.
All hell broke loose last week when a Francistown pastor lost his temper and publicly accused Tatitown police station commander of incompetence in a public meeting.
Pastor Mooketse Mbisana got angry at a kgotla meeting addressed by the Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Ndelu Seretse and accused Superintendent Cyprian Magalila of failing to do his duties.
Recommending for the minister to fire Magalila whom he branded a corrupt and incompetent officer who is not even fit to be a cop the irate man of God said: “After this meeting the station commander should just pack and go because he is not doing his job.”
Although it was not clear why he wanted the policeman fired, Mbisana blamed the top cop for the influx of illegal immigrants and the escalation of crime in Tatitown and surrounding areas.
Minister Seretse however was quick to come to the cop’s defense.
In response to pastor Mbisana’s remarks Seretse said: “I think you are a desperate man who needs to calm down. You have to learn protocol and know that someone cannot be fired without a valid reason.”
The minister then went ahead to publicly express his doubts about Mbisana being a true Christian and advised the station commander to meet the so called man of the cloth privately to iron out their differences instead of resorting to name calling in public.
“You two need each other. I would advise you to meet after this meeting to address your problem civilly.” Seretse said.
Tatitown Customary Court President, Margaret Mosojane also advised Mbisana to respect the Kgotla and learn to address other people with love and respect.
“Yes, we all know that all words said in a kgotla are perceived to be right but we should learn to choose what we say to others for the sake of peace and harmony,” Mosojane said.
