The first Gumare Advisory Association fund raising dinner was held on Saturday night at Centre Lodge in Maun.
Speaking to The Voice, the Association’s treasure Letsogile Ledimo said that their objectives are to promote and upgrade and social integrity by maintaining self reliance. He said they want to maintain a national collaboration with government stakeholders tasked with youth assistance programmes.
“We are encouraging and assisting our community to undertake professional projects that can advance their economic and social welfare,” he said.
Ledimo said they aim to exercise enthusiasm, reliability and integrity to develop their village and its people with courtesy. According to Ledimo the Association was formed in December 2012 by Gumare youth through social media –facebook. He said that through their discussions they realized that they should give back to the community.
He explained, “The main concept of it was to contribute and assist in making our village a better place for all residents.” Currently the association has four branches being headquarters in Gumare, Maun, Francistown and Gaborone.
The dinner was held under the theme, “There for the community.”
