A Jamataka woman who was reported missing to the police by her in-laws after abandoning her matrimonial home for seven months has returned.
Tapiwa Matenge made news headlines sometime in October last year after her husband Ranku Moshabi reported her as a missing person.
Police have been searching for her until they received a message from her in-laws recently that she had returned.
“Her relatives contacted us regarding her sudden return and we verified the information before calling off the search.
The woman said she had visited a friend when we asked her where she had been all this time.” a police officer has said.
The concerned officer went on to warn members of the public to always communicate with family when taking long trips to avoid unnecessary panic.
The officer however said they would not be charging the woman with any crime since there was no law prohibiting people from disappearing from matrimonial homes.
Tapiwa ‘s husband did not wish to comment on her return.
