BE A STERRING THIS WINTER
Yarona FM’s Annual Hotness In The Cold Clothes and Blankets Donation Drive is back for the 6th year running.
Since its inception, the initiative that was introduced by Yarona FM’s midmorning host Tshepang T-Izzy Motsisi in 2008, has grown to become one of the biggest events on Yarona FM’s Calendar.
The Hotness In the Cold Initiative’s main goal is to collect as many clothes and blankets as possible, for distribution to selected charities and needy communities.
This year’s campaign is a month and a half long and it started in the 2nd week of April 2013 and will continue until May 30th, with the donation happening on 01 June.
Clothes and blanket donations can be dropped off at the Yarona FM Offices at Unit F18, Fairgrounds Mall in Gaborone.
Let us bring the ‘Hotness’ in this 2013 cold.
BLUE CARD GOES BIG
In some countries it is against the law to travel without an Identification document.
This is exactly what creators of Blue Card, a fast growing headgear label are aiming for.
“We want to be the headgear brand of choice,” said Boni Nkosi one of the brand owners said.
Already with an opportunity to dress Botswana’s representative at Miss World Tourism slated for this October, the brand has hit the road running.
With an assortment of headgear that includes beanies, weave caps, scarf and hats the Blue Card has become the in-thing among urban youth.
With over 1000 pieces sold in just two months, the blue sky is the limit.
TSHENOLO’S NYLON SUIT
I’m glad that Tshenolo Mosimane and Joel Keitumele managed to produce an album of this quality.
I’m not really excited over the quality but with the sound these guys went for.
It is a popular sound in South Africa and groups and solo artists from SA with similar sounds have become instant celebrities here without even trying. Now here is a local boy, great voice, beautiful sound but not South African, will he get the love?
The seven track album produced by Joel and Amo Keitumele is among the best I have listened to this year.
My favourite is the title track and Pelo yame. The album gets 8 out of 10.
ALL HAIL THE QUEEN
The 2013 Miss Botswana Beauty pageant was overshadowed by glitches that could have been easily avoided had all stakeholders involved used their heads instead of their hearts.
Organizers need to understand that, the media cannot be held at ransom.
An invitation is not a guarantee for good publicity.
Snubbing the media for an event like Miss Botswana was childish and if the organizers did not know that, I guess now they know.
While I or none of my colleagues were not invited to the glamorous event; allegedly because of my big mouth I wish the newly crowned Miss Botswana 2013, Rosemary Keofitlhetse a productive reign.
