Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU), will host Association of Non Aligned Teachers Union of Southern Africa (ANTUSA) games at Mogoditshane Senior Secondary School over the Easter’s long week end.
The sports games will be held under the theme “Well Remunerated Teachers in Safe Schools: A must for Quality Education in SADC Region” are part of the exchange programme that teachers’ trade Unions in the SADC region enjoy.
“ANTUSA is an exchange programme for Teacher Unions and offers a platform for educational, socio – economic, political forum and sporting activities.
This is the second time for Botswana to host the regional games, since the first games in 2008”, said Solomon Batsietswe of BOSETU.
The first ANTUSA games were held in Botswana in 2008 hosted by BOSETU in Tonota Region while. South Africa hosted the 2009 games in Polokwane.
In 2010 the ANTUSA games were held in Harare, Zimbabwe followed by Zambia in 2011 which BOSETU could not fully participate in due to the historic Public Sector Strike.
Last year the games were held in Windhoek, Namibia.
Unions which form ANTUSA the family are Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union(BOSETU), Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ), Basic Educators Trade Union of Zambia (BETUZ), Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN), Progressive Educators Union (PEU) from South Africa and Lesotho Teachers Trade Union (LTTU).
