A hundred pairs of school shoes for 100 pupils was Tati River Lodge’s noble gesture of Botho to Tonota Junior secondary school last week.
The donation worth P25 000 was made by TRL’s managing director Duduzile Khupe before an excited audience of school staff and pupils.
TRL’s relationship with the secondary school dates back to a decade ago when Khupe was invited as a guest speaker at the school’s prize giving ceremony.
“At the end of my speech on that prize giving day, I publicly adopted the school.I was impressed by the school’s management and how the students carried themselves. Over the years we have maintained the relationship in small tokens of support until the culmination of today,” she said.
She said gifts are not given because the giver has many things in abundance or expects something in return but sometimes out of conviction that bana ba motho ba kgaogana tlhogwana ya ntsi( children from the same family share even the smallest of things.
Speaking at the same occasion, former headmaster of the school, Patrick Mbengwa urged the benefi – ciaries of the donation to be motivated by the kind gestures.
“Such opportunities should motivate you to perform better in your studies. Next time we come here should be about celebrating your excellent performance,” he said.
