BARTENDER ON THE MOVE
For those who frequent some of the most colourful cocktail parties and dinners around Gaborone, Odumetse Gordon Moagi, may be a familiar face or his products a familiar taste.
At the tender age of 26, the youthful entrepreneur has taken advantage of the usually unsatisfactory service as well as strict legal conditions against alcohol consumption, by establishing a mobile bar service.
Moagi who has since quit drinking for business purposes says the passion for his business stems from the days that he used to enjoy his alcohol.
“I used to enjoy my cocktails and I had special preferences for special occasions and I also worked as a bartender for some years, so I can comfortably say I’m well experienced,” he says with a chuckle.
While he was still employed as a bartender, Moagi says some of his clients were so impressed with his services that they hired him personally to serve them at private functions.
He managed to save some money and eventually it was the merger of his vast knowledge and love for cocktails and different beverages and the desire to start his own business that gave birth to his company, Liquid Creative’s & Supplies Mobile Bar Services in 2010.
“I had saved quite a substantial amount and I did not have to seek any financial assistance to start the business. The response has been very encouraging since then. I get a lot of referrals from my clients and I provide flexible and tailored beverage solutions for all types of events including private parties, corporate events, house warming, office opening and any other events held outside restaurants and bars,” he says.
Moagi says the secret to his business success has been good customer service. He says the beverage catering services is of high quality standards thereby ensuring that both the client gets satisfied.
“Our dedicated staff tends to you and your guests in a professional manner. We setup a bar in your office or any venue of choice, provide drinks and catering services as well as packing up at the end of the event,” he says.
His services, Moagi says include a number of packages that also cater for non-alcoholic functions.
“We also provide ‘mocktails’, which are cocktail events that are best suited for places where alcohol is not required. These we usually provide for pregnant women, underage kids and people who do not take alcohol. This service we mostly provide at baby showers and school graduation parties.”
