JAILED: Jazire
Serial robber and rapist who terrorized and had residents of Tati-siding living in fear of their lives will spend the next 20-years behind.
25 year-old Herbert Jazire a Zimbabwean national was convicted for a single count of rape and armed robbery.
The notorious criminal made headlines when the 46 year old woman he raped pleaded with him to use a plastic bag as a condom.
Jazire is said to have pounced on the elderly woman while she was tending to her field and threatened to chop her with an axe if she refused to yield to his sexual advances.
“I did not see where the accused came from, I only saw him standing next to me.
He demanded money from me, and I told him I had none. He then started to unbuckle his belt, unzip his trousers and undress.
That was when I screamed for help, and when the children who were with me saw what was about to happen, they fled into the bush to alert their mothers who had gone to collect firewood,” related the woman.
When further narrating the gruesome details of the sordid experience the traumatized woman said: “He then told me to lay down and started to hit my thighs with the small axe he had, forcing me to open my legs and take off my panties.
When I asked him to use a condom he said he did not have, and when I pleaded with him to use a plastic bag he mumbled something in a foreign language but went on and raped me.
When he was done, he snatched my two cellphones before quickly escaping into the bush,” continued the distressed woman.
The Masvingo born criminal was also found guilty and sentenced to 10 years for attacking two young lovers along the Tati siding railway line.
During trial, the couple narrated how Jazire terrorized, attacked one of the lovers with a sharp object in the shoulder before getting away with their personal possessions valued at P1 600.
