LEADERS OF THE PACK: Orapa United FC

Orapa United FC is still at the top of the First Division League north after collecting maximum points from all the nine games they have played so far.

Four teams from the mining town merged last year to form one formidable side that is United FC.

With only one game left to wrap up the first round, United has so far accumulated 27 points and is ahead of second placed FC Satmos with six points though the latter has a game in hand.

The ‘Ostriches’ as they are affectionately called will this weekend travel to Soda Ash town to play Sua Flamingoes.

Speaking to Voice Sport this week Orapa FC Public Relations Officer Badisa Laolang said their aim is to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League to avoid play offs.

He said their main worry has been their inability to score many goals, which prompted the technical team to sign a new striker.

“We signed only one player Tumelo Mazebedi from Satmos and his capability will help us up front.

Last weekend we defeated Maun Tigers 3-0 in a match that our boys showed a lot of character.

There is good team spirit, and have a cordial relationship with the coach Nchime Modise and that is the secret behind our success.

Also our team has a lot of youngsters who are very quick going forward,” said Laolang.

He said their weekend opponents have a very solid midfield which the coach is well aware of.

“We anticipate a very tough encounter, but we still confident of collecting maximum points,” said Laolang..
