FORMER MP’ SON KILLS PENSIONER

Maun police are investigating a case in which Bashi Temane, a son to Bahiti Temane, the former Mp for the area has been accused of murder.

50- year -old Temane of Sanyedi ward allegedly killed a  91-year- old pensioner by hitting him with a crutch on Sunday afternoon.

An eye witness told The Voice that the old man pricked one of his younger drinking pals with needle which led to a verbal exchange between the two.

“We did not take it seriously because the old man liked pricking people with his shoe mending needle but when the argument got heated, Temane intervened and warned the younger man to  respect  elders.

“ It was at this time that Temane caught the attention of the needle wielding old man who then pricked Temane on the cheek with his weapon of amusement,”said the eye witness.

Instead of applying his own advice of showing respect to elders Temane allegedly became furious and grabbed a crutch from a disabled man who was seated next to him and beat the deceased twice on head and neck.

The pensioner who at the time looked strong and jovial shocked many when he collapsed and died.”

Temane who had just arrived from the cattle post at the time waited at the drinking spot for police to arrive.

He  was arrested and arraigned before court on Thursday

Detective Assistant Superitandant Motlapele Maropamabe of Criminal Investigations Office confirmed having the suspect in their custody.

He also confirmed confiscating the killer crutch to be kept as part of evidence. “We don’t know exactly where the deceased was beaten but the post-mortem results will tell.” the police boss said.
