Police hunt for dangerous lover on the loose
Molepolole police have launched a search for a man who attempted to strangle her lover to death two weeks ago.
Tshepo Pinayame, 28 went into hiding after he lured his girlfriend, Thandy Rabokala to the bush and attempted to hang her on a tree with her own belt over accusations of infidelity.
When 32- year Rabokala who is lucky to be alive proved too strong for Pinayame to hoist on the tree, he pushed her to the ground instead and tightened the noose around her neck.
Narrating the gruesome details of her attack while recuperating at home after five days in hospital, Rabokala said: “He had followed me to a baby welcome party and asked me to accompany him somewhere. I could see he was agitated but I was shocked and terrified when he grabbed me from behind and slipped off my belt from my skirt before he proceeded to drag me to a nearby tree.He then held me down and made a noose which he slipped on my neck and then tried to hang me.
I struggled and fought for my life and that is when he pinned me down to the ground and strangulated me.”
Rabokala who was eventually rescued by passers by told of how her assailant ran for cover when he heard voices of people approaching.
“My neck was too painful to shout for help so I crawled through the bushes instead until I reached nearby yard where I hid myself until the owners arrived. I told them my story and they immediately called the police who took me to the hospital where I was treated for bruises,a swollen neck and face.,” she recalled.
Allaying Rabokala’s fears that the wanted man may come back to finish her off, Superintendent Andrew Bosilong of the Molepolole police said that the last time the police heard of the suspect he was spotted in Mogoditshane and the police were closing in on him.
“We are hot on his heels and we are confident that he will be in police custody soon,” Bosilong said
