A caged rapist who escaped from Francistown prison on Sunday was re-arrested by the police three days later along Sebina -Tutume road. He was trekking to Nkange.
27-year- old Gearge Kgweetsang who was convicted in 2008 was only four years into his 10 -year – prison term when he escaped and began his three day long walk to freedom.
“The convict sneaked away from prison officers when he was carrying out duties assigned to him. When he was apprehended on Tuesday the prison officers brought him to be cautioned of his offence,” confirmed Superintendent Mojaboswa Mathitha of Francistown Police station.
On Wednesday Gearge was arraigned before Monarch customary court and sentenced to seven months imprisonment. The sentence was wholly suspended for a year on condition that he did not commit the same offence in that period. He also got three lashes on the buttocks, the station commander said.
