A shocked taxi driver recently watched in horror and disbelief as his car burnt in a bizarre fire that destroyed the interior only.
31- year-old Tebogo Setontoro’s dreams of owning a beautiful new taxi went up in smoke on Sunday afternoon when the car he only finished paying for last week caught a mysterious fire that erupted from the inside but never spread outside.
Setontoro had knocked off early that day to prepare for a church service when disaster struck at his place in Shashe ward.
Narrating his story to The Voice, The Zion Christian Church member said that he had parked the car outside the yard but as he got ready for a church service he heard a neighbour shouting that the car was on fire.
Up to now Setontoro does not know what caused the fire because he had switched off the engine and carried the car keys inside the house.
As he tried to come to terms with his ordeal the devastated taxi operator said: “If you look at how the interior of the car was gutted and how the rest of the car including the engine and the petrol tank did not catch fire you too would be puzzled like I am.
“The most painful thing about this freak accident however is that I had just finished paying P37 000 for the car when it occurred. There is no how you can dispute that it is all the work of evil forces.”
Police who went to investigate the inferno also expressed shock at the stranger way the car was burnt.
