Beers in fridge

A 25-year-old cop and his four accomplices charged with breaking into a bar and stealing alcohol beverages and others goods valued over P5 000.00 were on Wednesday granted bail at the Mahalapye Magistrates court.

Stephen Lesedi Manga, 25, of Machaneng  Police Station  is the dock  alongside  four unemployed Mahalapye  men namely  Bafeletse Keoagile, Eziekiel Koobonye both 34, Swartland Ditshego,36 and Kealebale Nkuna aged 35 accused of  breaking into and stealing from  Bodibeng Bar in Makwate village last month.

The list of stolen items allegedly stolen by the gang resembles a shopping list for a massive party.

The list besides beer, whiskey, brandy and soft drink includes 40 packets of peanuts, 118 sweets, 39 packets of matches, 260 packets of cigarettes and 30 packets of simba chips.

Interestingly according to his police colleagues Manga is a teetotaller.

Mahalapye Magistrate Ompatile Setlhabi released the four man on condition that they do not interfere with police investigation, keep their whereabouts known to the cops and do not commit a crime of similar nature whilst out on bail as requested by State Prosecutor sub Inspector Kwao Joyce Tabengwa.

The case continues next Friday.
