ILLICIT HOUSE
First impression you get about this album is that money was spent, and definitely with hope for some positive returns.
Everything about the album is professional and the talent featured is mouthwatering. I needed a second opinion on this one and Monnamogolo Sid was there to share his views, and he loves it. Actually he thinks it is
the best house album to have ever come out of this country. When you have Dave Storm, Harrison Crump, and Boddhi Satva, then you seriously mean business. The album also features one of the most beautiful voices in the country, Samantha Mogwe; other local acts include Apollo Diablo, Meropa Park and Kuchi. The album which got in stores this week is a must have for all house lovers. Money was spent and money is expected back, so go get it is that good. By the way it’s a double CD and has a double dose of everything. It gets 10 out 0f 10.
ALL KASI 12 YEAR MADNESS
They are probably the only local brand that is currently on everyone’s lips right now.
There is just no way one can mention Umbro without saying All Kasi. The Zebras AFCON Technical Sponsors will be celebrating 12 years of their existence this Friday at Gaborone Club. The lineup for the show is also a bold and loud statement from clothing label. DJs Fresh, Ski, Sid, Robbie Rob, Otis Frazer and Easy B, O neal, Sly, Khenzo, Dallas, ViB and Pj will be entertaining revelers. The cover charge is P100 or P50 if you are wearing an All Kasi brand. Children are charged P30, P20 for car tickets and P200 for VIP tickets.
OLD SKOOL JAMZ
The roundtable gig is back, and it is bigger and better.
South Africa radio veteran Bob Mabena will share the stage with the likes of Sid to dish out those old classics that set the foundation for today’s music. This show billed for this Friday at
Boipuso hall will also feature Dolphus, Juicy, Peter T and Otis Fraser. Pre-sold tickets go for P150 while you will have to part with P200 at the gate. An early bird catches the fattest worm they say, come in early for Pavillion’s Happy Hour. If you wanna go back to the days of Naughty by Nature, Brenda Fassie, Sox wa Lejapere and Marvin Gaye then the weekend starts today.
TOWNSHIP NIGHT’S TALKING POINTS
It was one of those nights where talent was in abundance.
Township Night last Saturday at Zoom Club took me down memory lane. When was the last time you saw Zulas performing? These guys are still in the business and actually have a new album out. The HSP Family had descended on the popular joint last Saturday and the reception they got from revelers was heartwarming. Even more comforting for me was the fact that it turned out to be an exclusive night for Big Weekend and The Voice. That’s how we roll, we don’t discriminate, we are ready to come to the most marginalized entertainment centers in this country, of for as long as there is some fun.
