Pakistani man accused of abusing 9 -year-old girls
A Pakistani man accused of sexually abusing two primary schoolgirls by inserting his penis between their thighs has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
42-year- old Sumer Chad, denied in court on Wednesday that he had inserted his penis between the two nine-year- old girls’ thighs and performed a sexual act at his house in Phase 1 in Gaborone West last year September.
The charge sheet however states that Chad indecently assaulted his victims by kissing them on their cheeks before he inserted his penis between their thighs for his own sexual gratification. The incidents happened on two different occasions, the court was told.
He is alleged to have lured his victims with Monster Pops and money among other things.
“He used cash and sweets to attract these children to his house. He even gave them money; P10s and P20s to win their trust to get inside his house which is located near the children’s route to and from school,”, A witness who asked not to be named alleged.
Meanwhile Counsel Priscilla Israel of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) told the court this week that investigations have been concluded and defence furnished with all the necessary documents for trial.
The state is expected to call six witnesses among them a specialist doctor to testify. Chad who is represented by Unoda Mack was initially charged with rape but the charge sheet was later amended to indecent assault after it was ascertained that no penetration had occurred.
The presiding Magistrate, Ephraith Ndengwa set the 17th and 24th of January 2013 as trial dates and granted Chad bail. Case Management Conference was to be held on November 5th 2012.
