SOMMELIER: Craig MacGillivray

It was a night of great culinary delight as guests enjoyed a spectacular five-  course meal carefully paired with complementing Solms wine collection at the Phakalane  Golf Estate Hotel Resort wine tasting event recently.

Craig MacGillivray, CEO of Solms-Delta Wine Estate was a perfect host for the evening as he explained the origins of each wine and the wine making and naming processes involved in detail before each course.

He also gave his guests a sneak peak into life in the village of Franschhoek in the heart of the famous Cape Winelands, the estate where wine making has become intertwined with positive change in people’s lives.

The evening started off with a glass of the sparkling ‘Cape Jazz’ Shiraz and followed by some of Solms white and red wines.

Although the event was the first of its kind  Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel Resort is planning to make the wine dinners annual winter calender  events, when wine makers have time to fly over in between harvest seasons. In July the winemakers from the renowned Rust en Vrede Wines from Stellenbosch and in August the General Manager of Glen Carlou Winery from Paarl are expected to host similar events respectively

Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel Resort is the sole distributor of the Solms Delta wines in Botswana.
