DIAMOND BUSINESS DISCUSSED

The Botswana Diamond Manufacturers Association (BDM) was yesterday (Thursday) expected to hold a conference under the theme: ‘Botswana an Emerging Diamond Centre- Diversification and Opportunities.

The Conference aimed to create a dialogue with stakeholders about issues pertaining to the downstream opportunities in the diamond industry and to share key insights and knowledge on among others, the progress of the relocation of the DTC to Botswana and improving the citizen’s participation in the diamond industry.

The Conference also sought to build a body of knowledge on public participation and reflect upon the new developments that have taken place, taking into consideration the national, regional, international and global perspectives.

G4S  ACQUIRES FMG

G4S (Botswana) Limited recently confirmed the conclusion of the acquisition of Facilities Management Group (Pty) Ltd, a company made up of three companies that are engaged in cleaning services, facilities management services and security.

The transaction was agreed at P12, 198, 848 did not include the security component, as it (Shield Security) was disposed of prior to the conclusion of the transaction. Speaking to the media early this week, the company’s Managing Director, Moraki Mokgosana said they were excited by the addition of the new outsourced solutions and were humbled by the opportunity.

He further said the transaction was in line with their global strategy to be a leader in outsourced solutions, and allowed the company to deliver a wider range of solutions to both new and existing markets.
“We are excited by the addition of the new outsourced solutions to our range of services and are humbled by the opportunity to offer these to our existing and new customers,” he said.

Mokgosana revealed that 800 employees of PS Cleaning and Facilities Management Services along with G4S Botswana’s 2, 700 workforce boosted their status as one of the largest employers in the country with 3, 500 employees.
