DESTYROYED: Broken dock

There was drama at the Molepolole magistrates court on Tuesday when an accused person who was appearing for mention destroyed the dock as he looked for something that he could lay his hands to use to attack the magistrate.

According to sources, the accused Botsi Kefitile who is in his mid 20s told Chief Magistrate Dumisile Faith Dlamini that he did not like the car that was used to transport him from prison to court and that he was not happy to be appearing in that court.

Dlamini then asked him what he car he wanted to be transported in, reminding him that he was not at liberty to choose, a thing which seemingly infuriated Kefitile.

“He suddenly became angry and started hurling insults at the magistrate and while people were still baffled by his anger he broke the dock and charged towards the magistrate carrying a piece of the broken dock while threatening to beat her up,’’ said the source.

Police officers however managed to restrain and handcuff him before he could carry out the attack on Dlamini who had already scurried for cover.

In an interview, Dlamini confirmed the incident which she said caught her unawares and had left her traumatized.

“Everything happened so fast but the good thing is that he was not able to attack me. I am however still shocked by the incident and the fact that an accused person can have the audacity to think he can choose a vehicle which should be used to transport him to court,’’ she said.

The accused person is facing several burglary cases.
