Wednesday
“It’s a Wednesday and the weekend is around the corner. I finished all my pay this past weekend and I don’t have money. If I had money, my weekend would start today but I guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow quarter to Friday, when I will have a chance to take some money from the office; it’s not stealing, I will return it at the end of the month.

Today I will just check my friend, Sparks, to smoke some weed and call it a day”

Thursday
“Yesterday was great with Sparks, but eish! I slept late.  My idiot boss asked me to do a lot of things for him before he leaves for Francistown. He always has something to complain about, if it’s not handing in reports on time, it’s about me missing work because I am sick.

I wonder if he knows that we also have our own lives? I’ll just help him quickly so he can go. I noticed there is around P1500 in the office, so I’m going to just take P800 since I am sure I will be able to return it at the end of the month.

He’s left the office! I’m out of here, time for some fun! Today I don’t want any phone calls from my son’s mother; she’s just a nuisance, where does she think I’ll get the money to give her? Anyway let me stop thinking about this woman and get some beers at the bottle store”

Friday
Today there’s no work for me. It’s already 10am anyway.  Oh my goodness, what a terrible hangover; I need to get some more alcohol, let me check if there is some left in the cooler box. Ija Ija! Another dent on my car! Oh well, it happens, I will sort it out month end. Just what I need, two beers left. How did I spend so much money yesterday? At least there is a P20 to get some smokes. I’ll pass by work to get the rest of the money from the petty cash. Those stupid workers should not say a word to me when I get there I will curse them! They never believe I’m sick! People should just mind their own business.”

Conclusion
Our friend managed to take the remaining money from the office and continued partying the whole weekend.  He replaced the petty cash after getting a cash loan but at the end of the month, he did not have enough money to buy groceries or pay rent.

He had to park the car because it had no fuel and he was unable to pay back the cash loans. He lost his cell phone during this weekend and got into a fight with the mother of his child, again. Amidst all of this, he managed to borrow some money from friends and family to go for another binge weekend.
