A dodgy cattle dealer who allegedly swindled Mochudi farmers of over P60 000 worth of cattle got more than what he bargained for when he turned up for another deal as he was leashed and beaten up by his angry victims.
After weeks of hiding, Gaone Lesedi’s cunny habits evaded him on Tuesday as he found himself leashed with a cattle rope and absorbing countless fists after his victims caught him in Mochudi following a tip-off. Lesedi who is also a regular customer with a number of stock-theft cases at Extension 2 magistrates court in Gaborone had allegedly found fresh hunting ground in Mochudi where he swindled unsuspecting victims of their cattle promising to pay them after slaughter.
“He told us that he was the owner of Real Biltong butchery in Gaborone’s Extension 10 and Meat Zone in Phase 4. We believed him and trusted him with our cattle and he disappeared and never communicated with us,” said George Monametsi whose cattle were worth P9 500.
He added: “Today when we heard that Gaone will be buying cattle from a local farmer we lay in ambush and when he showed up we grabbed him and demanded our money.
He didn’t have any money and he failed to explain why he had been avoiding us and that is why we leashed him so that he does not escape again.”

Lesedi was then taken to Mochudi Police station where he was detained. Officer Commanding for No.12 District Senior Superintendant Seabe Maboka confrmed the incident but said investigations were still being carried out. “It’s a fresh matter and I am yet to get the details of what happened and once we have the full infor mation we will let you know.”
